Study abroad ERASMUS / EUCOR

In principle, there is a good possibility for an exchange during the second half of the third semester. There, courses with a total work load of 15 ECTS at the partner universities (mostly during their spring semester) can replace electives of the master program hydrology in Freiburg. Following this exchange students can directly start with the master thesis. Hence time for studying is not prolonged. Basically, there are two options:

1.)  Erasmus

The Chair of Hydrology currently maintains exchange relations with the following universities:

Universitetet i Oslo, Oslo, Norway
2 places, 6 months each

Universität für Bodenkultur (BOKU) Wien, Wien, Österreich
2 places, 6 months each

Ecole Nationale du Génie de l'Eau et de l'Environment de Strasbourg Strasbourg, France
6 places, 6 months each

Universidad de Malaga, Malaga, Spanien
2 places, 6 months each

How do I proceed?

Basically, you should inform yourself about the place of study and the curriculum in the spring semester on the websites of the partner universities. For some partners, English courses take place, otherwise knowledge of the respective national language is required. Since the exchange quota is limited, an early application is advisable.

Please contact apl. Prof. Dr. J. Lange already before the Christmas break of your first semester if you are interested. The application process in then organized by the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources. If your application is successful, J. Lange will discuss with you the study program and the Learning Agreement. Information about the Erasmus program can also be found on the webpage of the Erasmus office of the University of Freiburg.

2.) EUCOR-Master with the University of Strasbourg

An exchange within the framework of the EUCOR program was agreed with the various organizations of the University of Strasbourg (responsible: Ecole Nationale du Génie de l'Eau and the Environment de Strasbourg, ENGEES). Here, students can take modules of the master Ingénierie et Sciences pour l’Environnement. Modules have a work load of 3 ECTS and deal with various geo and environmental systems as well as associated environmental risks.

How do I proceed?

Good French skills are required as only individual modules are taught in English. Interested students can contact  apl. Prof. Dr. J. Lange. In principle, all master students in hydrology at the University of Freiburg have access to this exchange. The French partners on site help individually with questions and problems. General information about the EUCOR program can be found here.
